Why Rest Is a Strategy, Not a Weakness
There was a time when I thought rest was the enemy of growth. Every business book, every entrepreneur I followed, every story I heard seemed to glorify hustle. The late nights. The early mornings. The endless grind. I thought if I wasn’t exhausted, I wasn’t doing enough.
But here’s the truth I’ve learned: rest isn’t a weakness. Rest is a strategy.
I can see the difference in myself when I choose rest. When I ignore my body and push through, my work is sloppy, my patience is thin, and I show up distracted for the people I love. But when I choose to nap, take a walk, or shut down the laptop early, I come back sharper, more creative, and more grounded.
That’s when I started to realize growth isn’t about how much you can squeeze into the day. Growth is about sustainability.
The business you build has to last. And it won’t last if it’s built on burnout.
That’s why I’ve shifted my perspective on how I run things. Instead of asking myself, “How can I push harder?” I ask, “How can I make this easier?” Automations handle the repetitive work that used to eat up hours. My team runs on processes that keep them clear and confident without constant direction from me. Dashboards show me the big picture so I don’t waste energy worrying about what matters most.
All of those systems create something powerful: space. And that space allows me to rest.
Rest is what gives me the energy to show up fully for my kids at dinner. Rest is what helps me be present with my husband without half of my brain in my inbox. Rest is what makes me creative in my business instead of reactive.
That’s why I don’t see rest as stealing from growth anymore. I see it as fueling growth. Because growth that burns you out isn’t real growth. Growth that allows you to keep showing up day after day — that’s what lasts.
And that’s what I want for every woman I work with. Not just a business that grows quickly, but a business that grows sustainably. One that gives you the freedom to rest without guilt. One that makes presence possible while still reaching your goals. That’s exactly what I help women create through The Legacy Framework, because sustainable growth is the only kind worth building.
